EXO Thailand Guide Training 2023

In-depth guide training held in three regions of Thailand

With the high season just around the corner, EXO Thailand gathered guides for training in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket.

Led by EXO’s operations teams, the sessions covered a broad range of topics designed to be both informative and motivational. Nearly 300 guides attended over the course of 9 days. The agenda kicked off with a review of EXO policies, updates on EXO news and introduction of key team members before moving into more specific areas of focus.

Thailand Operations Manager, Khun Boom, led many of the key sessions. With her deep-seated knowledge of EXO’s workflow, clientele and products she was well positioned to share information about operations and procedures with our team of guides. In addition to the standard operational information, Boom also placed a heavy emphasis on EXO’s Vision, Mission and Purpose, giving guides a greater understanding of the company and our values.

‘It is important that we have the guides on the same page as us, especially for our Mission and Vision. These trainings are a good opportunity to set goals and make sure the guides have what they need to provide the best service for EXO clients. We like to have this opportunity to greet them and spend time with them.’

‘Guide training is an important step in ensuring quality delivery of our products on the ground’

EXO Thailand’s Product team was on hand to share updates on experiences and tours. This training is key to keeping our guides fully educated and informed on EXO’s unique products as well as to ensure they are clear how the experience should be operated.

‘Guide training is an important step in ensuring quality delivery of our products on the ground’, Rupert, EXO Thailand Product Manager explains.

‘Every EXO experience is created with unique touches. It is important to educate our guides on how best to operate the experience, without losing the ability for guides to use their own local knowledge to adjust a bit to their guests’ personal taste.’

‘Our guides are the key players to deliver, enhance, engage our end-customers for sustainability awareness

Sustainability and Responsible Travel was also another key talking point, with Venus providing important training sessions on maximising the positive outcomes of travel while also minimising negative impacts.

‘Our guides are the key players to deliver, enhance, engage our end-customers for sustainability awareness,’ Venus explains.

‘The training encourages guides to recognize the heart of the messages contained in our Tips for Responsible Travellers e-brochure and to promote recycling on tour.’

Beyond the informative training conducted by EXO leadership, the meetings also provided a great opportunity for the guides to gather and share their knowledge and experience. And, of course, have a bit of fun!

EXO guide Oat from Chiang Mai sums it up well, ‘The EXO training was great and joyful. We get to learn more about company background and also it’s a fun chance to meet with our guide friends to share our experience.’
